About Beth

Child of God, Wife, Mother, Author, Teacher, Servant...

Despite having taught in a variety of situations from public school to private to homeschooling (my own children as well as other children), I find that my true philosophy of education hasn't changed. My goal as a teacher is to mentor, to be an example to my students and ultimately to share the love of Christ in everything I teach. All of my courses come from a Christian world view and I really try to instill in my students that God didn't place them on the earth to be mediocre. He has gifted them all, although obviously in different ways. I strive to bring out those gifts and encourage them to do all things unto their Lord.

Educationally, I utilize curriculum of which I am an author, Epi Kardia, because it works for my students and for me. I believe that students learn better from studying strong writing through excellent literature and I try to incorporate a variety of methods to reach multiple learning styles. Whether it's History or English, the quality of the material used greatly reflects the extent of what may be learned.

As a home school mom of two for over the last decade, I can relate to families who realize there are subjects and skills that make teaching at home tremendously challenging. You won’t see any math courses listed here that I teach! Knowing what we can do and what we need to receive help with are two great strides toward realistic home education.

Being a writer myself, I truly empathize with students who struggle with writing. It's not easy, even for those of us who love it. Writing isn't a subject, it's a life skill for most and an expressive outline for some.

I don't have a "typical" student that I teach. I have taught many wonderful students who are overcoming negative school experiences, living with disabilities, suffering from depression or just trying to discover who they are in this crazy life! I do try to stretch students to reach their true potential and achieve the goals that they and their parents desire. My prayer is that I lead them closer to the Lord by showing them what they are capable of through His power and grace.

I truly enjoy teaching, interacting with students and seeing their minds open to all that God has to offer! Whether making lap books with elementary children or discussing the intricacies of Victorian writing with older students, I believe my calling is to teach and God is most pleased with me when I do.

In Him,
