Course Description:

This course provides foundational grammar and writing skills for elementary students. Skills covered include, but are not limited to: parts of speech, sentence structure, paragraph development, antonyms/synonyms/homonyms, literary elements and self-editing. Each class is divided into two parts. Firstly, students receive group instruction focusing on specific skills. Secondly, students work independently on writing assignments during which they may conference with the instructor about individual writing concerns and weaknesses. Students will create mini books, lapbooks, a grammar and writing notebook, and culminate with a published personal writing scrapbook that features their best work from the year.
