FAQ: Should my 8th grader take middle school or high school writing classes?
It really depends on your student's skill level and maturity. Typically, it's best to email a writing sample to me and I'll evaluate it for skill level. The sample should not be edited by anyone other than the student author and 2-3 paragraphs of original writing works well. If you want a writing sample evaluated, it's best to send it in the summer rather than close to classes starting. Putting a child in a class that is too difficult only proves frustrating for the child, the parents and the teacher.
